FAQs
I'm looking to get into work
Our ‘Getting Into Work’ page explains how our funded courses work and includes a handy eligibility checker.
Choosing & booking your course
You can book onto the programme by calling our office on 01429 273994 or by clicking here to leave a message, and a member of our team will get back to you.
We invite all prospective learners to attend an information session, held every Thursday at 11:00 am. Our Engagement Officer will explain the course content and structure, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions.
We understand that commitments may prevent learners from attending the full six-week programme consecutively. The Gateway to Construction Programme consists of individual industry-recognised qualifications, with course durations ranging from 3 to 10 days. We can schedule the training elements at times that suit you. However, once enrolled in a course, attendance on all scheduled days is required (e.g., a 3-day Forward Tipping Dumper course must be attended in full).
Our training is designed to equip learners with industry-recognised qualifications to support employment in construction. However, we recognise that individual needs vary. On your first day, we will work with you to create a personalised training plan and enrol you on only the courses you need. The only mandatory element is the LEAN Management Course.
Yes, our programme is flexible, and you can choose to complete only the training elements that suit your career goals.
We offer NPORS-accredited training for a wide range of construction plant equipment, with regular courses available for:
- Excavator 360
- Forward Tipping Dumper
- Ride-on Roller
- Plant and Vehicle Marshal
- Slinger Signaller
- Telescopic Handler
If you require training in additional categories, please contact us at 01429 273994 or click here to enquire.
If you choose to have the CSCS logo on your NPORS card, it will be issued as a ‘Trained Operator Card,’ valid for two years. During this period, you must complete a Level 2 Plant NVQ to upgrade to a ‘Competent Operator’ card. Without the CSCS logo, your NPORS card is valid for five years, with no NVQ requirement.
The CSCS course consists of a one-day classroom session leading to the Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment qualification. Results take up to 7 days, after which we will book your CSCS Operative Health & Safety Test at Middlesbrough Pearson Vue Test Centre.
Once you have passed the test, contact our office at 01429 273994 or click here to notify us, and we will apply for your CSCS card. The application process can take up to 14 days.
